Leuchtdiode als Netzkontrolle (Elektronik)

Hallo,

vorweg, ich habe so gut wie keine Ahnung von Elektronik.
(kann aber löten!)
Daher nun eine wahrscheinlich dumme Frage von mir:
Kann man eine Leuchtdiode über einen großen Widerstand hinter einem Netzschalter anschließen?
Es geht um Folgendes:
Ich habe einen Grundig Verstärker von meinem Onkel bekommen. Das Gerät hat die Bezeichnung " Hi-Fi Stereo-Verstärker NF1".
Es wurde von meinem Onkel so umgebaut das ich 4 Buchsen habe um meine Lautsprecher anstöpslen zu können. Und noch zwei Buchsen für meinen CD-Spieler.
Auf der anderen Seite von dem Gerät hat er einen Einschalter eingebaut. Jetzt hätte ich eben gerne eine Anzeige ob der Verstärker eingeschaltet ist oder nicht.
Geht das?
